TransNet Bait & Switch

Sold to taxpayers as an initiative to "expand freeways", San Diego Association of Governments (SANDAG) shifted TransNet tax funds away from highway projects to a region-wide public transit plan.

From a Voice of San Diego article in August 2021:

“Everything has been re-envisioned in this regional plan,” said Coleen Clementson, SANDAG’s director of regional planning. “Ultimately it’s the board of directors’ decision, but if they adopt the plan as proposed, the projects as initially envisioned in the TransNet ordinance would not happen.”

Residents throughout the county feel misled (and even lied to) regarding SANDAG's bait and switch move.
